About Florida Room
In early 2011 Martin Moore (drums) and Michael Perera (vocals) had departed ways with two members of their old band in the space of a week, they contemplated stopping but continued to finish songs they had started recording. They quickly gained the production assistance of Jelle Ijsbrandy (guitar) and working together the tracks started to evolve and take shape a lot quicker. After numerous bass auditions Florida Room auditioned a prospective guitarist, it proved unsuccessful however through him they were recommended a bassist. The band then had their first rehearsal with Frazer Twyman (bass), to which it was their first positive encounter. A practice was also arranged with Jelle Ijsbrandy even though he was involved in various other projects, this also proved positive and soon a full line-up was reinstated.

Within completing a few months of small London shows, the band after gaining experience playing live started to tailor themselves, concentrating more on guitars and layered harmonies. The initial blueprints of Michael Perera's ideas were now taking on a new, more focused direction, each member bringing a diverse range of musical influences ranging from rock, post-punk, pop and folk roots.
They were soon fully evolving from their initially grandiose, dramatic and darker guise to a more zestful, hungry and affirmed sound, whilst still keeping hold of their energetic live nature. The results of the last 6 months of writing and performing eventually gave the band more momentum, circumnavigating the London unsigned live circuit, their live shows have gained them comparisons to big hitters such as Interpol, The National, Bloc Party and Radiohead. However the band continue to experiment and personally charter new musical territory within their songwriting, as they attempt to stray away from the saturated scene of typical indie guitar bands with something more musical and ambitious.

Based in Clapton, Hackney, Florida Room are currently recording and writing, further cementing their identity they enter the new year aiming to tour the UK and The Netherlands. They plan to release an EP in the summer of 2012.
